There is no official GTA 6 file size yet. Rockstar, Sony and Microsoft have not published a download size, install size or storage requirement. The only widely repeated figure is 210 GB for the PS5 Standard Edition download, posted on October 27, 2026 by PlayStation Game Size, an account that tracks PlayStation Store data. Treat it as a strong report, not a confirmed number.

We checked the U.S. PlayStation Store and Xbox Store listings on October 31, 2026. Neither shows a size. The PlayStation listing shows “7-Day Pre-load”, and the Xbox page lists the game as optimized for Xbox Series X|S. Some outlets have written 210 GB for Xbox too; the original post covered the PlayStation Store only.
How big is that? Context
GameSpot reports that 210 GB is about double the size of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar’s previous big release. Because it is a download size and not a confirmed install size, leave extra room for the patch and for the install itself.
How to make room before November 12
- PS5: the game must run from the console’s internal SSD or a compatible M.2 SSD. A USB drive can store PS5 games but not run them.
- Xbox Series X|S: Optimized games run from the internal SSD or an official Storage Expansion Card.
- Plan for 250 GB free as a safety margin. That is our planning suggestion, not an official requirement.
How long will the download take?
Using the reported 210 GB, a steady 100 Mbps connection needs roughly 4 hours 40 minutes, and 500 Mbps roughly 56 minutes, before any patch. Real speeds vary with the store’s servers, especially around the preload opening.
