Fortnite Pirate Shop Token: Free Item Shop Rules and Dates

Fortnite has hidden a token in its Treasure Hunters season that makes almost everything in the Item Shop free for 14 days, twice. It’s a rare chest drop, the whole squad gets it, and the 2026 window must be activated by December 15. The timing, two weeks before GTA 6 launches, is hard to miss.

How to find the token

The token comes from Treasure-Hunt chests, which can also hold a gizmo or a cosmetic. Their other contents change weekly, according to Polygon. Reports agree on these tips:

  1. Play squads. If anyone in your team finds it, everyone in the match gets it, so four people opening chests gives you four times the chances.
  2. Land where chests are dense. Named locations have more chests than open ground.
  3. Play during Treasure Hours. Official Epic’s season post says Treasure Hours run on Sundays through the season, starting Sunday, November 8, with Captain’s weapons at the start of every match and “boosted drops”. Epic hasn’t said whether the boost covers the Pirate Shop token or published exact hours, so check the in-game banner on the day.
  4. Secure your account. Our advice A free 14-day shop makes accounts a target, so turn on two-factor authentication before you start hunting.

How to activate it, and when you should

Back in the lobby, open the Item Shop and use the Plunder the Item Shop option. The 14-day clock starts when you activate it, not when you find the token, so don’t do it by accident.

Our advice The shop rotates daily, so the timing decides what you can grab. Epic’s own season calendar shows when the big drops land:

Date Fortnite GTA 6
Nov 1 Treasure Hunters starts. Luffy, Nami and Usopp in the shop
Nov 5, 7 PM ET A$AP Rocky in the shop
Nov 7 Zoro, Sanji and the Chopper Sidekick. Captain’s Day
Nov 10 Digital preload opens
Nov 12 Lil Uzi Vert. Captain’s Day Code-in-box copies at retailers
Nov 13 Buggy
Nov 14 Kasane Teto and Cap’n Hatsune Miku. Captain’s Day
Nov 19 GTA 6 launches
Nov 21 Captain’s Day
Dec 5 Chapter 7 end event
Dec 15 Last day to activate the 2026 window

Our math If you found the token early and mostly want the One Piece skins, activating on November 7 covers every One Piece and collab drop Epic has listed up to November 21. If you’ll be busy with GTA 6 from November 19, activating before then gets more value out of the two weeks. If you care more about the end-of-season shop, wait until after the December 5 event, but no later than December 15.

How much is it worth?

Polygon puts the first One Piece bundle (Luffy, Nami and Usopp) at 4,000 V-Bucks, about $30. GameSpot notes that more than 100 songs are always in the shop at $5 each. Our math That’s roughly $500 in songs alone before any skins, and a fortnight of daily rotations on top. The real value depends on what you already own.

Why now? The GTA 6 angle

Treasure Hunters is a one-month mini-season, and GTA 6 lands right in the middle of it on November 19. GameSpot reports Battle Royale is drawing about 2 million players during US daytime hours, around four times October’s average. Reported The second token for 2027 gives anyone lucky enough to win a reason to come back after the GTA 6 rush. Epic hasn’t connected the promotion to Rockstar’s game; that reading comes from GameSpot.

Frequently asked questions

What is Pirate Shop Access in Fortnite?

A rare reward in the Treasure Hunters mini-season that started on November 1, 2026. It lets you claim almost anything sold for V-Bucks in the Item Shop for free for 14 days from activation, with a second 14-day window in 2027.

How do you get the Fortnite Pirate Shop token?

It drops from Treasure-Hunt chests in Battle Royale matches. Mode, team size and Build or Zero Build don’t matter. If one player in a squad finds it, every teammate in that match gets it too, according to GameSpot and Polygon.

What is the drop rate of the Pirate Shop token?

Epic hasn’t published one. Figures such as 1 in 700,000 that circulate on social media are unverified. Treat it as a lottery prize, not something you can farm reliably.

When must I activate Pirate Shop Access?

The 2026 window has to be activated by December 15, 2026 (7 PM ET, which is 01:00 on December 16 in Madrid). The second token is for a two-week window of your choice in 2027. Each window lasts 14 days from activation.

What is excluded from the free Fortnite Item Shop?

Anything bought with real money (such as some bundles and Fortnite Crew), gifting, and Battle Pass levels. You can also claim only one free Sidekick, and not one you already own.

Do the free items stay after 14 days?

Yes. Items you claim go into your locker permanently, according to Polygon. Only the free-claim window ends.

Is this Fortnite’s answer to GTA 6?

Epic hasn’t said so. GameSpot reads it that way, because the first 14-day window overlaps GTA 6’s November 19 launch and the second token keeps players coming back in 2027. That is analysis, not an Epic statement.
