Rockstar’s copyright policy says it will take down videos that spoil GTA 6’s story, including endings and cutscene compilations, and the rule doesn’t expire after the game launches on November 19. Full playthroughs and narrated Let’s Plays are allowed. Pre-release footage, cheats, mods and isolated in-game TV shows are also on the takedown list.
Last checked on November 4, 2026. The rules come from Rockstar’s support article “Policy on posting copyrighted Rockstar Games material”, quoted by Metro, Insider Gaming and TheGamer on November 4. Our own reading of what it means for creators is marked “Our advice”.

The GTA 6 timeline that matters for creators
| Date | What happens | What it means for videos |
|---|---|---|
| Nov 10 | Digital preload opens (PS5 midnight local, Xbox 00:00 GMT) | Files download, but the game can’t be played. Showing the download is fine; any footage is a leak. |
| Nov 12 | Code-in-box copies at retailers | Our advice “Early unboxing” videos are on the takedown list. Wait until Nov 19. |
| Nov 19 | GTA 6 unlocks at midnight local time | Gameplay and Let’s Plays are fine. Story spoilers and cutscene supercuts are still removed. |
| After launch | No end date in the policy | Spoiler rules keep applying. |
Exact preload hours are in our GTA 6 preload time guide. The New Zealand trick moves when you can play, but it doesn’t change these rules. Insider Gaming points out that clips captured that way are exactly the kind of early story footage the policy targets.
Creator checklist for launch week
- Our advice Stream or record full sessions with your own commentary rather than uploading cutscenes on their own.
- Don’t title or thumbnail videos with plot twists. Spoiler thumbnails are the fastest way to get reported by fans as well as Rockstar.
- Keep in-game TV and comedy off your channel as stand-alone clips.
- Skip money glitches and exploit tutorials for GTA 6’s online modes. They are on the takedown list.
- Not sure? Rockstar’s policy asks you to email copyright@take2games.com, describing the scene and its context.
For players: how to avoid spoilers
- X: add muted words such as “GTA 6 ending”, “Jason”, “Lucia” and “GTA 6 spoilers” in Settings, under Privacy and safety, then Mute and block.
- YouTube: Shorts and recommendations are the main risk in launch week. Use “Don’t recommend channel” on GTA uploaders you don’t trust.
- Reddit and Discord: stick to communities that require spoiler tags for the first weeks.
- Streams: big streamers will play the story live from day one, including Kai Cenat, who is warming up with five older GTA games. Live story streams are allowed, so avoid them until you’ve finished.
Frequently asked questions
Will Rockstar take down GTA 6 spoiler videos?
Its copyright policy says videos showing the ending, an edited combination of cutscenes or plot dialogue, or any other big story reveal will be removed. The policy has no end date, so it applies after launch too.
Can I stream GTA 6 story missions?
Yes. The policy says cutscenes are fine as part of a larger playthrough or a narrated Let’s Play. What gets removed is isolated cinematics and supercuts.
Can I post GTA 6 footage before November 19?
No. Pre-release footage, including leaked clips and early unboxing videos, is on Rockstar’s takedown list. Physical code-in-box copies reach retailers on November 12, a week before the game unlocks.
Is the policy new for GTA 6?
No. It is Rockstar’s general policy for all its games and was last updated in January 2025, according to Metro and Insider Gaming. It recirculated because GTA 6 is close.
Who do I contact if I’m unsure?
Rockstar’s policy points creators to copyright@take2games.com, asking them to describe the scene and the context it will appear in.
How can I avoid GTA 6 spoilers?
Mute words such as GTA 6 ending and character names on X, avoid YouTube search and Shorts for the first days, and turn off notifications from GTA channels until you finish the story.
