What Santa Monica Studio said
“Since the reveal of God of War Laufey in June, we’ve been deeply grateful to see so much excitement for Faye’s journey through the Everywhen. We don’t take for granted the trusted place in the studio to make an extraordinary experience worthy of the passion and dedication of our fans. With this in mind, we’ve made the decision to delay God of War Laufey’s release to May 20, 2027. We will make the most of each moment until then by putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential.”
Official The PlayStation Store now lists the release as 04:00 UTC on May 20, 2027, which is midnight on the US East Coast. Release times for other regions haven’t been announced yet.

What happens to your pre-order
Official Nothing, unless you act. Digital pre-orders move to the new date automatically. Under Sony’s PlayStation Store policy, a pre-order paid more than 14 days before release can be cancelled for a refund at any time before release, as long as the game hasn’t started downloading. With May 20 more than six months away, every current digital pre-order still qualifies.
Our advice If you’d rather keep the money free for GTA 6 or Black Friday, cancelling now costs nothing. You can pre-order again closer to May. Our pre-order cancellation guide walks through the PlayStation Store steps.
