How to cancel a GTA 6 pre-order on PS5
Official Sony’s rule for digital pre-orders depends on when you paid, and it only applies if you haven’t started downloading the main game, “including pre-loading before release”:

- Open your PlayStation Store Transaction History and select the GTA 6 purchase.
- Choose Request Refund and follow the steps. If the option isn’t there, contact PlayStation Support or use the online assistant on the refund page. Have your Online ID, sign-in email and the product name ready.
- Expect the money in 30 to 60 days, back to your original payment method where possible, or to your PS wallet if not (for example, if you paid with a voucher).
Official If you cancel, any pre-order extras that were already unlocked stop working. Sony also warns that downloads happen automatically when Automatic Downloads is enabled.
Our advice If you’re still deciding, turn off automatic downloads before November 10. On PS5 the setting is under Settings, Saved Data and Game/App Settings, Automatic Updates. How to cancel a GTA 6 pre-order on Xbox
- Sign in at account.microsoft.com and open Order history (under Payment & billing).
- Find Grand Theft Auto VI and select Cancel item.
- If you’ve already been charged, Microsoft says a cancellation before release is processed as a refund. If the option is missing, use the Xbox refund request form.
Official Microsoft says it can charge digital pre-orders up to 10 days before release, so around November 9 for GTA 6. Orders paid with Microsoft account balance are charged immediately.
Our advice Cancel before about November 9 if you can. Stopping an order before you’re billed is simpler than waiting for a refund.
Physical and code-in-box copies
Official GTA 6’s physical edition is a code-in-box release that reaches stores on November 12. The box holds a download code, not a disc (see our digital vs physical guide). Pre-orders from a shop follow that shop’s cancellation and returns policy, not Sony’s or Microsoft’s.
Our advice Cancel from the retailer’s order page before it ships or before you reveal the code. A redeemed code usually can’t be returned. For Sony’s own PlayStation Direct store, physical pre-orders can be cancelled until they enter shipping, which Sony says is generally about 8 days before release.
