GTA 6 has two playable leads, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, and Rockstar has officially introduced six more characters around them: Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, the duo Real Dimez, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder. This guide sums up what Rockstar’s own character pages say about each of them, where they fit in the story, and what is still unknown before launch on November 19. Everything below is from Rockstar unless it is labelled otherwise.

“Not announced” means Rockstar has not said you can control that character. Based on everything shown so far, only Jason and Lucia are playable.
Jason Duval
Official Rockstar describes Jason as someone who grew up around grifters and crooks. After a spell in the Army trying to straighten out, he ended up in the Leonida Keys doing jobs for local drug runners. His deal with Brian Heder is simple: he lives at Brian’s place without paying rent, and in return he helps with shakedowns. Rockstar’s framing is that Jason wants an easy life but keeps getting pulled back in, which sets up why he takes the risks he does with Lucia.
Lucia Caminos
Official Lucia’s father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk. That instinct landed her in Leonida Penitentiary, and Rockstar says it was luck, not good behaviour, that got her out. Her motivation is family: Rockstar mentions her mother’s dream of a better life, dating back to their days in Liberty City. Lucia is the first playable female lead in a mainline GTA game since the series went 3D.
Rockstar via Edge In the Edge preview, Rockstar North said Jason and Lucia’s relationship is the heart of the story and the game is built around the two of them working together. Our explainer Can Jason and Lucia break up? covers what Rockstar said about the relationship, and the Extended Look roundup covers switching between them.
The supporting cast
Cal Hampton
Official Jason’s friend and an associate of Brian. Rockstar paints him as someone happiest at home, listening in on Coast Guard communications. Expect him to be the crew’s source of information rather than its muscle.
Brian Heder
Official A smuggler from the “golden age” of drug running in the Keys, who now runs a boat yard with his third wife, Lori. He is Jason’s landlord and, in effect, his boss.
Boobie Ike
Official A Vice City local legend who turned his street reputation into real estate, a strip club and a recording studio. He co-runs the label Only Raw Records with Dre’Quan Priest.
Dre’Quan Priest
Official Rockstar calls him a hustler rather than a gangster. He used to book acts at Boobie’s club, then signed the rap duo Real Dimez and partnered with Boobie on Only Raw Records.
Real Dimez: Bae-Luxe and Roxy
Official Friends since high school, the duo had an early viral hit with DWNPLY before things stalled. Five years later they signed to Only Raw Records, Boobie and Dre’Quan’s label.
Raul Bautista
Official A seasoned bank robber whose recklessness, Rockstar says, keeps raising the stakes. Our guess (not confirmed): he is tied to the game’s bigger heists.
Where the story takes place
Official Rockstar’s official site lists six regions of the state of Leonida: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. The character bios tie most of the cast to two of them: Jason, Cal and Brian to the Keys, and Boobie, Dre’Quan and Real Dimez to Vice City’s music and nightlife scene. Our GTA 6 map size guide covers each region.

Quick checklist before you play
- Read the bios on Rockstar’s site. They are short and contain no story spoilers beyond the setup.
- Mute spoiler words early. Reviews are expected the day before launch (see when GTA 6 reviews come out), and story leaks tend to follow physical copies shipping early.
- Know who is who in the trailers. Boobie, Dre’Quan and Real Dimez are the Vice City music crowd; Cal and Brian are the Keys crew.
- Set your preload. Digital pre-orders can start downloading on November 12; see our preload time guide.
